Balance Error - ReadyCARD® Balance Not Showing? How to Fix It
If checking your ReadyCARD® balance returned "Something went wrong, please try again later" or showed no result at all, there are several common causes. Work through the steps below to identify and resolve the problem.
Step 1 — Re-enter all card details carefully
The most common cause of a failed balance check is a data-entry mistake. Verify every field:
• Card number: all 16 digits, no spaces or dashes
• Expiration date: month and year exactly as printed on the front (MM/YY)
• CVV: the 3-digit code on the back of the card
One wrong digit in any field will cause the check to fail. Re-enter every detail carefully and try again before moving on.
Step 2 — Check that your card's BIN is supported
The first six digits of your card number are the BIN. This site supports ReadyCARD® BINs 451002 and 455921 (Visa®), 512857 (Mastercard®), 487505, and 533211 (Canada).
If your BIN is not in that list, your card type is not supported here. Check the address printed on your card: if it shows rcbalance.com, go there directly to check your balance.
Step 3 — Make sure your card is activated
New ReadyCARD® prepaid cards must be activated before the balance can be read online. If you received the card recently and have not activated it yet, the balance check will fail. Activation instructions are on the packaging or on a sticker on the front of the card.
"Something went wrong, please try again later"
This specific message means the card issuer's system returned an error that cannot be fixed by re-entering your details. Most common causes:
• A temporary outage on the issuer's side — wait 15–30 minutes and try again
• The card was issued in a program that is not currently supported by the online balance check
If the error persists after several hours, call the customer service number on the back of your card. They can read your balance directly and diagnose the issue.
What this site can and cannot do
This site shows your ReadyCARD® balance when the issuer's system returns a successful response. It cannot access your account directly, reset your PIN, change account settings, or explain card-specific error codes from the issuer.
For account issues, card replacement, or disputes, always contact your issuer using the number on the back of your card.
